I simply desire my truck to be drivable. I accept been told what a swell truck the 97 dodge is so I traded my Suburban and my motorcycle for one yesterday. The damn matter won't shift right. It shifts hard into 2d and stays there till I'k doing 70 and playing with the gas pedal. Then information technology randomly downward shifts for no reason. And every mechanic I talk to wants money just to tell me what'southward wrong. If I had money I would just take information technology to a shop!!!

This vehicle has been well cared for and is just driven possibly 7k miles a year these last few years. I had been experiencing this problem for about the terminal 4 years nonetheless. It started off with a check engine light that then pulled a code about the torque converter, adjacent thing I know its not shifting at all. I have it taken to a shop and sure enough the manual is DOA. This truck looked sharp when I got information technology just now I wish I had gone with something more dependable rather and then for looks. I have family that own same year model Chevy'south and fords with almost double the mileage and never whatever transmission piece of work. This led me to believe that the newer dodges with the awesome "hemi" would as be junk and they are just expect them up. They look good simply their quality from bumper to bumper has to be the worst in the automobile globe.

Manual went low on fluid. Caused Lucas stop slip to add to tranny fluid. Fluid however clear and there was no burnt fluid. This was the one thing the seller told me was rebuilt.

bought my truck pretty cheap. never had an issue in Florida, merely on my mode to Idaho, the transmission o/d selector turned on by itself and the truck started running weird. Let information technology set overnight and the effect went away, or so i thought. Almost a month afterwards, my truck started not wanting to up shift when speed increased. Took it to a mechanic and information technology took them three days to find out that the wheel speed detector had taken a crap. Replaced information technology myself in about fifteen min. Haven't had a trouble with that since. YAY!!!

First of all, I screwed up past buying the truck from a used auto lot. I knew that I was in for some problems since information technology was bought "as is". The manual slipped slightly every at present and then, so, since I'd but had the truck for less than a week, I took it to the dealer and told them of the problem. They were absurd plenty to replace the manual at their expense, kudos to them for that. Notwithstanding, the mechanic that they had supercede it obviously didn't know what the hell he was doing. For one thing, he put a manual for a 318ci to a 360ci engine. Ok, at least information technology's working, right? Riiiggghhhtttt. He said that he had to put a different transmission cooler on the truck instead of running it through the radiator/transmission cooler. So, when he gave me the truck dorsum, he said that it was a 3-speed without OD. I however don't know how he managed to get it to shift into 5 different gears... puzzling. I though I had done something to get a hole in the transmission sooler, equally it was spraying fluid, and the return nipple is bent a fiddling. Turns out he but didn't have the hose on tight plenty. So I tightened the hose, and then refilled the 5 quarts of tranny fluid. Simply at present, even though information technology's total of tranny fluid, information technology doesn't want to shift, unless I put it in park every time I stop, and I do mean EVERY time, even stop signs and red lights. Even though the guy knows soooo much, I'd still rather have someone else'due south input on this. Practise I need to utilise a sure type of tranny fluid? Would information technology be the valve body? Or do I need to get some other transmission and have my nine year sometime install information technology?
